How to mend a seam
A. Inspect the damage to see which section needs to be repaired. Turn the garment inside-out and locate the part of the seam that is damaged.
B. Firstly, prevent the damage becoming worse by tying off the two loose threads at each end of the hole and double knot them.
C. Insert the needle where the seam is still closed, about a
centimetre from where the damaged seam starts. Start sewing above the existing seam aiming in the direction of the open seam. Sew two stitches diagonally down, moving towards just below the original seam.
D. Now lay flat both sides of the seam and sew in a straight line slightly below the old seam holes. Use sticky tape to hold the sides of the seam flat while you sew. Use the old seam holes as a guide for a straight line.
E. Tie off the thread at the other side and snip the thread. At the other side of the seam, sew a few stitches diagonally upward to work your way back above the original seam stitching. Tie off the thread and cut it.
